Equivoice was founded and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois – in 1996 – as an enhanced service provider specializing in international Voice over Frame Relay (VoFR) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) termination, fax broadcasting and calling cards.
In 1999, Equivoice expanded its node locations and added Milan, Rome, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Panama City and Paris to its list. Equivoice foresaw the commoditization of international termination and sold off its international network in 2001.
Equivoice used its extensive communications experience to create a domestic VOIP based network to serve US based clients with a secure and reliable service. From this point onward, the VOIP network evolved to support a variety of IP based services:
- A global satellite-based calling network for Carnival ships that terminated over 10 million minutes a month to global destinations.
- Unified Communications on Unified Computing System (UCS) Servers – This gives employees, clients and vendors a variety options that they can use to communicate with the rest of the world.
- Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – Enterprise-class level infrastructure platform that takes the worry out of scaling up your infrastructure.
Equivoice stays on the forefront of technology advancement, expanding the service and provider options available for its clients. Equivoice was one of the first Chicago based hosted IP telephony providers. The company continues to focus on areas that benefit its clients in today’s technology landscape. Recently, their focus has shifted to cloud deployment, design and hosting for companies. Equivoice works with private and public cloud solutions within its own geographically diverse data center environments. In doing so, they are able to improve accessibility, reliability and performance for their clients – no matter where the clients are located.
Equivoice’s public cloud offering allows its clients to enter into a rental agreement to use its equipment. For private cloud solutions, the equipment and infrastructure is completely unique for each business. Equivoice’s Cisco centric design landed it the desirable Master Service Provider for Cloud services certification from Cisco. This is the highest level of certification that Cisco awards to their providers.
Equivoice supports a managed and controlled Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Internet protocol virtual private networks (IPVPN) global network. The MPLS and IPVPN global network provide virtual private access to our data center infrastructure. Equivoice offers a Service Level Agreement (SLA) to ensure quality standards at met in the areas of uptime, bandwidth, latency and packet loss.
