Equivoice Collocation Facilities
Equivoice maintains two Chicago collocation facilities. One facility is located in the
suburbs and the other in the Loop. Each facility is a carrier class telecommunications
central office with security, alternate carrier routes and natural gas back up power
generators. The two facilities are interconnected via three independent high-speed carrier
facilities.
Equivoice also uses multiple carriers for local and long distance calling. We have
implemented BGP for Internet access so that each collocation facility can back each other
up.
Collocation Unified CCM Cluster Bronze
Bronze service includes the installation of a Unified Call Manager cluster with a Unity
Connection Server in the Equivoice collocation facility. The cluster enjoys all of the
security and reliability of the Equivoice facility.
The Equivoice design includes a completely redundant Cisco Unified Communications
Manager 6.0 as the call processing platform. There are two main servers in the design.
Each server is capable of running the network by itself. One server is a publisher and acts
as the database server the other server has a backup copy of the database and provides
call control. If either server fails the other server can run the entire network with no
disruption of service.
Equivoice Support Service (ESS) covers all three servers. ESS consists of a Cisco
Essential Software Warranty contract, server hardware maintenance and remote site
database backup. ESS provides the following benefits:
- Equivoice monitors the entire network
- Equivoice interface with Cisco TAC to resolve network issues
- Equivoice keeps spare servers in case of hardware failure
- Equivoice maintains an offsite copy of the cluster and Unity database so that in case of loss of collocation facility the network can be restored at a remote location. The database is backed up daily.
Bronze service gives basic disaster recovery protection. If a client loses their main site calls can be diverted to another location; forwarded to cell phones or receive a disaster greeting. Voice mail and Automated Attendant service remain available throughout the outage. The main system has redundant processing and the ancillary systems can be rebuilt from spare servers and the backups within ours.
